The "Aonishiki Bento" has arrived!!

With just one week to go until Natsu Basho, the full details of the "Aonishiki Bento," produced by Ozeki Aonishiki , were revealed on the 3rd. The rikishi  bento boxes sold at the tournaments held at Ryogoku Kokugikan are supervised by Yokozuna and Ozeki. According to Kokugikan Service, Aonishiki was promoted to Ozeki after the Kyushu tournament in November last year, so the bento box was not available for sale at the January tournament. The "Aonishiki Bento" features stuffed cabbage rolls as the main dish, in honor of the Ozeki who is from Ukraine. It also comes with turmeric rice and, at his request, his favorite shrimp chili and potato salad. Furthermore, in honor of Ajigawa Oyakata (former Sekiwake Aminishiki), who is from Aomori, the bento box also includes the local dish of grilled beef and onions. The Ozeki has given his final approval, and the bento box, packed with various flavor elements, is sure to offer a different taste with every bite. With Kirishima returning to Ozeki, the "Kirishima Bento" has been revamped. It hadn't been sold since the summer tournament of 2024, as he was demoted from Ozeki at the Nagoya tournament. While it used to be mainly meat dishes, corn and bacon penne and boiled vegetables have been added, taking female customers into consideration. Five types of rikishi bento will be sold for Natsu, which will feature two Yokozuna and three Ozeki. The price is expected to be 1350 yen.
