The DMR repeater has been moved to its final location on top of Auburn Science Center at the W8UPD location. Give it a try and let us know if you can get in and where you are located so we can get an idea of the coverage area. I live in Fairlawn and with an MD-380 HT I can easily hit the repeater from outside and can hit it from certain places inside the house. Receive is no problem from anywhere in the house.

I can hear it about 3/4 scale and am able to reliably hit it now from my deck on a portable at 1 watt in Rittman. I heard myself coming back fine on another radio on Local9 this morning. I'm up on a pretty significant hill at about 1150', but that's a good sign! The QTH is here if you're mapping them: https://goo.gl/maps/nPCizzWQuc62

Nice job!

Ken

I can connect from the shack and I sound good on the parrot.  I had an FM radio listining to the AU frequency and hear it start digital transmissions while I was operating in the NAQPcw.

Good job.

What channel is going to be the one everyone should monitor?

Usually talk group 9 is considered local traffic in North America.  On the Akron 443.1125 DMR repeater, time slot 2, talk group 9 would probably be a good standby.

Ken, correct me if I am in error, also non registered radios that do not have a DMR-MARC issued ID number should be able to work on the local talk group 9.  Of course, using a default radio ID of 0 is poor ettiquite  Unregistered radios on any of the talk groups that are relayed through a bridge will be blocked at the bridge and will not relayed to other repeaters, though they may still be repeated locally.

You are exactly correct Bill. Local TG9 is reserved for local repeater traffic and Local TG2 is reserved for links to other “local” repeaters. These are both FULL TIME TG’s on the repeater and are not rebroadcast to the network.

In the case of TG2, for instance, there are 3 DMR repeaters in Cuyahoga county and a DMR repeater in Medina county that are all linked together on TG2. So if you are on TG2 on any of those machines you will be heard on all four when you are transmitting.

Those machines are all connected to the same C-bridge we are connected to and when we first connected to his system the C-bridge owner asked me if I wanted our system linked to that group on TG2. Since we were just starting out and in a “testing” phase I told him to hold off for now and maybe we would decide to be linked to them in the future, but for now we are not. So, for our machine, we could also use Simplex TG2 for local traffic on only our repeater since we are not linked to anyone else on that TG.

We will use Local TG9 for our “local” repeater traffic.

FWIW I can't hit it from my Kent location with a base antenna and the HT. I thought I got a positive confirmation on OH for a moment, but then fail-tone there and all other TG that I have in my zone, so the positive must have been a fluke - I'm probably on the very edge of reception and I am at water level where the Cuyahoga crosses from Kent into Summit County.

Nonetheless great to hear the repeater move is complete, and I'm looking forward to using it when I'm mobile. Great job, it's quite an effort to get things set up.

16:35 whoa I can hear and hit the repeater just fine  with HT and base antenna; perhaps the time slots were busy with a TG I don't have programmed, before.

Congratulations on the installation.
