Retrieve deleted dives?

I saw a post that I might be able to retrieve deleted dives, with admins help. I'm not sure what I did, but I had added 4 dives with information from my Shearwater Tern, then a few weeks later, went back to add 2 previous dives by hand, (no dive computer on those dives) and somehow deleted the first 4 dives I logged in Subsurface.

By the way, Subsurface is using my gmail email account, which is NOT my preferred email.

I'm pretty sure I had uploaded the dives, as I had trouble syncing my Shearwater to Subsurface. I did manage to sync my iPhone with Shearwater's data to the mobile Subsurface app. These dives must have been sent to the Subsurface website. Then I imported the dives from the Subsurface website to my windows computer. I was pleasantly surprised when I found my 4 dives had come from the Subsurface website into my windows computer.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

So you say you deleted the dives but you then go on to say how you were pleasantly surprised that these 4 dives were synced to your windows computer, do you have these dives or don't you? English is my native language but i'm having a hard time working out what you do any don't have.

If you go here (https://cloud.subsurface-divelog.org/) and log in, what do you see? Are your missing dives there or not? Are these manually added dives there or not? This gives you a live view of what the cloud storage currently has, sometimes we've had people think their data has gone walkabout but really they were just opening a local dive log rather than the cloud dive log.

We can tackle the cloud storage using a different email address later, lets get your data back first.

Jason

Send me an email from the account that you use for cloud storage.
If the dives were stored in the cloud, I should be able to restore then

Hi Jason,

Sorry for the confusion. English is also my native tongue. I'm still trying to learn how to use Subsurface. I may have erased the first 4 dives from my dive list in error, not understanding how to log dives correctly. I had a lot of trouble uploading dives from my Shearwater computer to Subsurface, so I was just trying to explain how I finally managed to get them uploaded in my last, but unfortunately confusing paragraph.

To be clear, I do not have the first 4 dives any longer. I do have two dives I added later by hand. I went to https://cloud.subsurface-divelog.org/, logged in with my credentials, a blue underline bar went across the screen in the URL box and then it cleared my username and password - nothing else happened. Repeated this a few times. Everytime, the same thing happened. I cannot login to that website.  Next, I went to my Windows Subsurface app, opened it and clicked on File, clicked on Open Cloud Storage, and it successfully synced and loaded my last 2 handwritten dives into the app.  I hope this helps.

I have 2 emails. I'm pretty sure I used drmu...@outlook.com when setting up my account, but if I didn't, I would have used cmul...@gmail.com. Those are the only 2 accounts I would have used.

As I said.
I need an email to me (di...@subsurface-divelog.org) from the address that you used. You can see which email address you used in the preferences / settings of Subsurface

Hi Dirk,

I sent an email to you from my registered email address. It bounced back. I redid them, and sent 2 more emails to you again. If you don't get either one soon, please let me know.

Thank you!

Can you tell me what I did that caused me to lose my first 4 dives? What do I need to read in the user manual so I don't do this again? I don't want to trouble you again.

The problem is usually that you open Subsurface, do NOT open your cloud storage, make changes, and then write to cloud storage, essentially overwriting the data that was there.

The best way to avoid this is to make cloud storage your default in the preferences
