ok, it's me again! I'm non techy, so please go easy on me! Have only just discovered that there's a Subsurface Mobile! So I've put it on my phone - OnePlus 6, and now I'm trying to work out how to download my dives from my old Cressi Leonardo, which isn't bluetooth, or USB cable, and I don't have the Cressi connector. In the s/w when I select the vendor and computer, the connection is showing as FTDI - so, what next please?!
Thanks!

The published version of Subsurface-mobile on Android doesn't support FTDI on a OnePlus 6.
If you are feeling adventurous, you could try the latest beta (released today) - you can join the beta program from the Google Play page.
That works with many USB-serial based dive computers and should support the Cressi Leonardo - but that is untested at this point.

Hi Dirk,
I'm feeling adventurous! You can get feedback from a very non-techy user!
Ok, I just clicked join in playstore, and it says it's adding my account.
Once I'm added, will it walk me through how to connect Cressi Leonardo to the phone?
Thanks!

So this shouldn't be too crazy hard...

First, install the latest beta (there will be a new one in a few hours, but the one that is available right now should be good enough)

The OnePlus 6 has a USB C port. And it came with a USB A-C adapter plug.
Plug that into the phone and the dive computer cable into the other side.

Once you plug in the dive computer (and potentially switch it into PC mode or data transfer mode - I don't know if that's needed for the Leonardo) you should see a dialog on your phone, asking if you want to open this device with Subsurface-mobile.
Approve that.
Subsurface-mobile should open. I assume you have it connected to your cloud account, otherwise just use 'no cloud' for testing.
Open the download dialog (the icon in the bottom center)
Now pick the Cressi Leonardo and 'usb-serial' as connection.
Tap the Download button

Regardless of whether this works or fails, tap on the menu (lower left corner) and Help->Ask for support
This opens an email window with the log files already included. Add comments on whether this worked or not, and send the log file (because regardless if this worked or failed, I'd love to see the log)

If any of these steps make no sense, please feel free to ask. It's hard to know how much detail to include, but I can certainly explain all of this in more details and with pictures if that's useful...

THANK YOU

/D

Hi Dirk,
ok done, and log files sent. Unfortunately no success.
Cressi Leonardo only works with Cressi's own interface, which I don't have, or IR. I tried with the DiveMate FusionIR, connecting that via cable to OnePlus 6 phone, got all the right things coming up on the screen: Vendor Cressi, DC Leonardo, Connection, usb-serial. I clicked force download all dives, got a quick visual line ran across the screen, but no download.
If there's anything else you'd like me to try, I'm happy to!
cheers, Danila

Hi Dirk,

I tried with my Xiaomi Note 4 + fusionIR + Cressi Newton + the latest  beta of subsurface-mobile.
Subsurface can see the computer and the dives. I choose to download one but then the dive list becomes like the attached picture (a list of empty dives).
Seems like you are almost there.
Just in time for my next dive trip :)

Thanks for all your effort

I had that empty list of dives at first too. I closed down the app, opened up again, and suddenly they were all there! So excited!

Just noticed that after importing the dive and getting the list of empty dives as described above, I closed the re-opened subsurface mobile and all the dives (including the new one) were there!

Almost there Dirk!

(I forgot to mention that I sent you the log as requested above)

If you close and reopen Subsurface-mobile, that is fixed. And we are a day or two from having a complete rewrite of the dive list merged and pushed into a new beta (I'm hoping tomorrow, honestly) which should fix this behavior as well.

Danila,
This is pretty exciting and I think weekend of good work done by everyone, well done.

Your FusionIR is working nicely with the phone now using Subsurface-mobile and although Subsurface-mobile has a reduced feature-set than the desktop version it'll allow you to fill out the essential items on your trip and then sync to the cloud before filling out the more optional items via the desktop software. Emmdarakis has shown that the FusionIR CAN work with the desktop software (I'm assuming that emmdarakis was using Windows too) so hopefully once you get that working on your Windows laptop (this should just be a matter of drivers) you'll then have the choice of whether you use Subsurface-mobile on your phone or full-fat Subsurface on your laptop.

I agree! I'm really excited to get going with recreating all my past dives - I'm sure I'll be asking questions about CSV files and syncing etc!
I'm extremely grateful to you Jason, and to Dirk, for your very speedy and comprehensive replies, and especially to your very kind offer to work in real life with me!
Now to try to remember all the places I've dived over the past 24 years!
cheers, Danila
