Hi guys,
Is there plan to support export dive log to a Garmin Connect supported file format ?
Soo that we can import our subsurface dive logs in Garmin Connect.

What formats (besides GIT) can Garmin Connect import?

soo should be the same i guess.
Do keep us posted.

Tcx and gpx aren't dive log formats. So they only support their own format for import.
I don't see us working on export to .fit, TBH.

And no, I am not working on integration into their existing Garmin Connect framework. I am working on allowing users of the Decent dive watch to download their dive data into Subsurface, that's kind of the opposite direction.

A first test version that includes support for downloading (via USB, on a computer) from the Garmin Descent is available.
There are a few shortcomings, still, but I think it's reasonably functional already. The two biggest issues are
a) no events are downloaded - this is simply code missing in our parsing algorithm and should be added reasonably soon.
b) the downloader right now offers ALL activities, it doesn't filter for dive activities. So unless you remember when your dives started, you may end up with weird super short/shallow "dives" in your dive log. Again, something I expect us to fix pretty soon.

For Windows simply grab the subsurface-4.8.1-...exe - that's an installer
For Mac we don't have a signed DMG as we do for releases, instead there's a Subsurface-4.8.1-...app.zip - which you can download, unpack, and then manually run (your Mac may complain about it being unsigned, depending on your security settings... worst case you may have to run the Contents/MacOS/Subsurface file directly
For Linux there's an AppImage there.

I'd be very interested in feedback how this works out for you.

Thanks

Hi, I've 3 Descents among 30 dive computers for my PhD, really interested in being able to test this.

Downloaded 4.8.1 app.zip version onto my Mac (High Sierra 10.13.6).  Unpacked, stepped through the unsigned warning, tried to run where it was (Downloads) and just got the error:

Subsurface cannot be opened because of a problem.

Check with the developer to make sure Subsurface works with this version of macOS. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and macOS.

I then moved it and overwrote my existing version of the subsurface app in Applications in case there were path issues, but just get the same error.

It is quite possible I am doing something basic wrong as this is not my area of expertise, but any suggestions welcomed.

I made a DMG available as Subsurface-pre-4.8.2.DMG at Subsurface-divelog.org/downloads/test
Please try that as I tested this on two different Macs and am reasonably comfortable that it works...

Dirk,

I ran into this issue over the summer and discovered the Subsurface app was expecting a particular version of openssl (1.0.1 l or m if I recall) to be in /usr/local. I symlinked the version I had previously installed with brew and got it to work.

FWIW, I was able to see the actual error by launching the app in a terminal.

I was working on some updates to build.sh to try to make it all self-contained, but I got distracted.

Rick

We should have the scripting all available as I use that in my local signed builds. I just need to remember to hook this up so that it runs on Travis for the auto-generated builds as well...

Help with that is always appreciated.
