  • Which OS are you running?-------------------------------------------------------Win10
  • (if applicable) which dive computer are you using?-------------------Mares Nemo Wide

Hello everybody!
Locate the logbook really great, have already made my dives divelogs imported - good thing!
Now I have the following problem that I always get the message in my Mares Nemo Wide: Error opening port Com6 (Mares Nemo Wide)
The problem is that I can choose no other port there!
Then have the software downloaded Mares and it has at the same USB port works on anhierb!
Battery of Mares's new!
Cable works (Mares logbook)
I ask for help!
Thanks in advance

Did you first run the Mares logbook and then Subsurface? It's possible
that the Mares logbook software has exclusive access to the port...

Hi!

No, I've only afterwards Mares tried because I thought it was a mistake from the cable or dive computer!

Interesting. Since the Mares software works we can assume correctly
installed drivers and a working cable. And the Nemo Wide has been
supported for a while.

Jef, any idea?

Just!

No idea - Nemo Wide functions - Cable works ?!
But would like to take your software, since I previously had a Suunto and TG have been imported!

Without a logfile it's nearly impossible to tell what went wrong. So that's the
first thing I'll need.

@Roman: Can you send me the libdivecomputer logfile. There is option for that in
the subsurface download dialog.

When you try to download data from your dive computer (Import ->
Import from divecomputer), there is a dialog opened where you
configure the dive computer vendor and model. There are a couple of
check boxes on the dialog that we are talking about. Check the "Save
libdivecomputer logfile and "Save libdivecomputer dumpfile". You also
need to give the location of these files to be saved. Then start the
download.

After the download is finished, there will be no dives on Subsurface,
but the files you selected should contain some data that we
(especially Jef) are interested in.

Do you have a Nemo Wide, or a Nemo Wide 2? Despite the similar name, these two
models use a completely different communication protocol. So make sure you
select the correct model.

This sounds like a known bug related to certain locales and should be fixed in our daily builds. http://subsurface-divelog.org/downloads/daily/

Can you test with that to make sure we have it fixed before our bugfix release 4.5.1

Hi all,

I still use my old Mares Nemo Wide (Gen. 1, on FW V03.01.00 ) Dive Computer (DC).
In lack of bluetooth adapters, I connect it to my laptop with the DRAK and USB cable.

Before changing my laptop and until a two-years break in diving, I was super-happy of handling this with subsurface.
After changning my lapttop and aiming to restart diving again, I just installed the most recent Windows version of subsurface (6.0.5504) and downloaded my log from the cloud. All went smooth and easy. However, when trying to change the DC settings, I see subsurface offering three types of OSTC and Suunto, but no Mares.

When I connect the Nemo Wide, subsurfac seems to recognise the COM3 connection. but doesn't retrieve available details or identify the DC as Mares.
I reinstalled Mares dive manager, which still could download all dives.
There are no new dives yet to update in my subsurface divelog, so I wonder if the communication wil be working and enable me to download new dives after my vacation

Did you end the support of this DC in the meantime, or what is the hack to bring the DC identification back in my settings?

Thanks in advance!
Christof

If there are no new dives, Subsurface won't really give you a lot of feedback on these older computers (on newer ones it may tell you the serial number or something before realizing that there are no new dives).

We haven't removed support for any old dive computers, so I would be surprised if things stopped working - but then again, bugs do happen.

When you try to download from the Mares, do you get an error, what exactly do you see on the screen?

Note that Subsurface does not do auto-detect for dive computers or
connections, you will have to select the correct dive computer
manufacturer / model, and you will have to select the correct port.

You can always test the connection by opening a new dive log and then
trying to download from your dive computer - but note that this might
take a while, as Subsurface will try to download all of the dives in the
device's memory.

I suspect you're trying to change settings (Import -> Import from dive computer)
instead of trying to download dives (File -> Change settings on dive computer).
Changing settings is not supported for Mares divecomputers, but downloading
dives should work fine. If not enable the "Save libdivecomputer logfile"
checkbox in the download dialog and send the log for analysis.

Thanks Dirk.
No, there was no error message.
Subsurface just didn't do anything because there were no new dives, yet.

Hi Christof,

This quite old Mares Nemo Wide is the one I use, and I can confirm that it works perfectly with latest versions of subsurface (even if I run it under Linux and Android, I guess that it works also under Windows).
