Hello,

I have been using subsurface to log my dives for a long time, and use the android app for no more than gps acquisition of diving spots and for checking the dives, presenting them on the diving centers and just remembering about those.

my problem is the delete button right next to the edit, and next to the map button.

the thing I would like to ask is having a 2 mode use: read and edit.

on read mode you would not have the edit or delete buttons, and such.
on edit mode, you would be presented with more options.

the problem comes when you are discussing over the dives, want to check the map, so open the app, find the dive and... accidentally touch the delete button.

It is not too tricky to get the dive back (need a backup on the computer, log in the cloud, then open your backup logbook, then save to the cloud).
however, it is complex and you just cannot do that on the fly...

would this be a feasible feature?

Thank you in advance,

Gerardo

A couple of comments:

(a) you can simply get to the map by tapping on the dive site name at the very top of the dive page - no risk of confusion
(b) if you do delete a dive by mistake, there's an undo function right in Subsurface mobile - tap on the vertical three dots context menu button in the lower right corner, pick Undo, and the last operation is undone

With those two things in mind, I don't think there really is a need for the feature that you request. Would you agree?

/D

Hey Dirk,

yes - those are nice features indeed.
I still think the button is too.. accessible though. if you think about changing something in the future, please keep that one in mind.
the button could be in the "..." list in the lower right as well.

Thank you very much for your feedback!

Thank you for the feedback.
As it turns out, it used to be much harder to delete dives, and making that possible from the dive view page was a frequently requested feature.
Which, I guess, shows you that different people have different preferences.

Thanks
