Hi all,

We wanted to let you know that there is a new release of SubjectsPlus, with some significant bug fixes and a new theme (based on the University of Miami one, e.g., https://sp.library.miami.edu/subjects/index.php).

Some release notes are here:

and the release itself can be found here:

We're still planning and working on SP5, but we've been set back a bit by effects of the Coronavirus.

Thanks,

Andrew

Andrew,
Is there documentation or recommendations on upgrading from v4.4 to v4.5.1? The documentation on upgrading from version 1 up on the wiki (https://github.com/subjectsplus/SubjectsPlus/wiki/Installation-Upgrade-4.x) seems like overkill for a minor version update.

Thanks

Hi Rodney,

We have some Release Notes related to version 4.5 here (https://github.com/subjectsplus/SubjectsPlus/wiki/SP-4.5-Release-Notes). Besides pulling the latest changes from the master branch and running this SQL code on your database server (https://github.com/subjectsplus/SubjectsPlus/wiki/SP-4.5-Release-Notes#guides-not-being-added-to-collections), the update should be straightforward.

Let us now how it goes.

Regards,

Abel

I upgraded my SubjectsPlus from 4.3 to 4.5 and I got the blank screen on both admin (localhost/sp/control/guides/guide.php?subject_id=32) as well as a public view (localhost/sp/subjects/guide.php?subject=art).

I just wanted to report back that our upgrade from 4.4 to 4.5.1 went off smoothly. We are running 11 instances for some of our consortium members and have made a few local customizations which had to be brought forward to the 4.5.1 code but other than that it was pretty straight forward.

That's great, Rodney!  Where is your consortium located?

Andrew,
We (MnPALS) are in Minnesota. Our membership includes the 30 colleges and 7 universities that comprise the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System, 13 private colleges and universities, as well as some special and state governement libraries. We only recently took over hosting Subjects Plus from one of our members after their staff member who was managing it retired.

Thanks for asking.

MnPALS, very cool.

We'd be interested in hearing about your experience using the software in a consortium environment.
