I'm an older user with a legacy database (version 5.922) that I need to migrate to a new computer.

On rare occasions, I'm still using this database. So I need to move it off a terribly slow, vulnerable Windows 7 machine.

I can't locate any old help files related to this.

Anyone remember the procedure for this?

Hi Fred,

My name is Bill Dowhy - I work for Stone Edge. Stone Edge should be able to help you upgrade to the latest version. Could you kindly give me a call at 484-927-4815 so we can discuss next steps and get you started?

Thanks so much,
Bill

I'm using Access.

What I've tried so far:

I copied the StoneEdge folder from the original install to my new computer.

On new computer I installed Office 64 bit and tried running Order Manager.

I quickly found out when I tried running Order Manager that my version requires 32 bit office. So I uninstalled 64 bit Office and installed 32 bit Office.

Then I was able get a bit further, but ultimately got stopped by an error. Not sure if this group allows embedded photos, but here it is:

I'm not a programmer so I don't know what the issue is.

The program was working in the current version of Access on my old machine.

Run the installer for your version instead of just copying the folder.  If you have customizations, you can then replace the installed version of the program with the one from your old PC.

I was thinking about the licensing issue, but it sounded like he had it working on his old PC.  I assumed that meant recently.

I think the bigger is that he’s going to need to find where the data file is on his old PC.  It’s possible that it’s in the same directory (StoneEdge folder) as the program, but it may not be.

Also, because of the old licensing server being shut down, I doubt he’ll be able to run 5.922 at all without getting it modified.

Thanks everyone for all the help.

Yes, the database currently works on my old PC.

I don't know that I still have the installer files to try Paul's suggestion.

The data for this particular business is stored in a directory separate from the Order Manager directory, so I migrated both to my new PC.

I did call Bill at Stone Edge just to have a conversation about upgrading. Waiting for a call back.
