I am interested in upgrading our 2019 SQL Server from Express (Free) to a Standard version, because of SQL size limitations.

Could anyone provide any insight on this process?  Does each work station that uses SEOM have to have a CAL for the SQL Server?

Thanks,
Chad

Chad,

Downside your database. Barney Stone has a service to Archive your database, so you can stay on the "Free" version and split your database. The cost was well worth it vs. the cost of SQL Standard. That's what we did. We can still get to the old orders easily.

Chad,
Here is the Archiving Old Stone Edge Data work around for both MS Access and SQL Server DBs. Barney Stone may have a better utility as per Chad but I can't find it on Barney's Site.
If you are interested in SQL Server Standard then you will need to install it on the Server and connect via ODBC. For every workstation you will need to create the ODBC connection to the new SQL data file on the server.

I never got around to adding my SQL Archive tool to my Website. Here is the single screen from the tool, which should be pretty self-explanatory:

SQL Archive Screen.jpg

I charge $750 for it, which includes up to 2 hours of my time working with you the first time you run it. That is just in case  you run into any problems, which does happen occasionally.

Please feel free to call or email me if you have any questions.

Thanks,

There's a built-in archive function that you can use that works with SQL.  Not sure if/what Barney's does in addition to the archive function that's built-in.

We can help you migrate the SQL database as part of your maintenance contract.  Just give the support team a call/email and discuss that.

Thanks!

I am confused on one aspect of the built-in Archive from from SEOM.

I archive all orders older than 01/01/2024.  The archive runs without error, when I reopen SEOM all of the orders prior to 01/01/2024 are still present... it's like nothing actually changes within the data (see screenshot attached)

Anybody have any guesses?

Thanks in advanced,
Chad
