Folks...we are in the home stretch - 36 hours until the draft. A few small notes and tweaks that I didn't think were impactful enough to bring to a vote but if you disagree vehemently let me know.
- Changed number of IR slots from 10 back to to 1. We made it 10 during the COVID year and frankly I forgot to ever change it back - I think having only 1 slot will force some tough decisions and that's better than IR hoarding
- I have done some research and made a few changes to defensive scoring to make it a little more dynamic and fun to watch your defense.
- First off, points allowed will be more rewarding/penal...this follows a normal distribution and the league average points scored per team over the last few years has been roughly 24. A standard performance gets you zero but a shutout can be big (there are only typically only 5 shutouts per year in the NFL) as can getting boat raced.
<image.png>- We will also be adding in yards allowed but it's way less rewarding/penal than points allowed
<image.png>- The idea here is that if your fantasy defense gives up 42 points and 550 total yards of offense you should get a big negative that's impactful to your weekly score
- Given the new kickoff rules, it felt like adding return yards as a small stat is a no brainer, we will reward 1 point per 50 total return yards.
- We will be adding in a turnover on downs being as valuable as any other turnover, worth 2 points just like an interception or a fumble.
- We will be adding in a 3 and out forced is worth .5 points. There are an average of 4 TOTAL three and outs in a standard NFL game in 2023 so this equates to 1 point and I think will be fun to root for.
Let me know what you think. Keepers due at Midnight!SB
