Dear community members,

The development team announce the upcoming release for version 23.3 (please see checklist and milestones here: https://github.com/Stellarium/stellarium/issues/3394) on September 24th. Today we made a weak freeze for the master branch (accepting bug fixes and typo fixes only) - no serious changes in the translatable lines are not expected up to release day, and you can help us translate planetarium into your mother language. Of course, if you found a typo or wrong phrase - please pontificate us ASAP (via GitHub or Transifex) to fix it.

The first release candidate you can obtain here: https://github.com/Stellarium/stellarium-data/releases/tag/weekly-snapshot

Thanks for your efforts!

I just installed 23.2 and noticed on the release page that you said "Like in the 1.* series, it seems the TelescopeControl plugin at least on Windows works better in the Qt5-based releases. Just install this if you are affected. We are looking for telescope users with programming skills to help us fixing this issue." I've got some spare cycles and could probably lend a hand if this is still an issue. If so please just let me know how I can help.

Yes, we still seem to need help. Some issue around the telescope plugin still has been reported to lead to a crash in the Qt6-based builds. Please start with the current beta or upcoming 23.3.
Kind regards,
Georg

For both 22.x and 23.x, when using stellarium via RDP it "freezes" after a few minutes pretty much every time I use it.

Yes this is qt5, windows 11 or 10, with the telescope plugin, multiple computers. It "feels" like it has to do with the window being obscured, but it is hard to say.

I don't know if it has anything to do with the telescope plugin, because that is the only way I ever use it.

If you have steps to debug let me know.

-Glenn
