Wondering which state or non-state specific projects within the USGenWeb Project  have 501c status whereby contributions can be made for tax purposes?

Thanks,

Kris, I'm not sure that is accurate... But the 'Friends of IAGenWeb' are a 501(c)(3) organization.

Tim, I believe NC is or was a 501(c)(3).

Tim, I'm not sure any still do, if they ever did. Why? See

Pat,

I would gather that Friends of IAGenWeb would have had good legal advice before setting up their 501c status.

I know that for TNGenWeb reports are filed each year with the Secretary of State for Tennessee showing the officers of the
group.  I don't know the exact tax status - other than non-profit public benefit corporation.

I was asking because, I'm not looking for a tax deduction but rather MRD distributions start soon for me and such a vehicle
would allow funds to go to such entities where they get the full amount, I don't have to pay taxes on the amounts while
fulfilling the MRD requirements.  I'd rather charities or entities where funds can be given instead of giving a large chunk
to the government.

Likely there are other folks in our organization that may have that same status as well, so knowing this would be
beneficial to those projects who do have such designation and possibly to those giving as well.

Tim
