Time: 18.35
Scene: Outside Caruso’s Quarters

“I’ve sent Ensign Shay to Sick Bay,” Nozumo informed Vikas. “He’s still sleeping, but I wanted someone there to let us know if he wakes up.”

“Good call,” Vikas approved as he punched in the security override code on the panel. The doors whooshed open. He and Nozumo entered the quarters.

At first glance, everything appeared normal. The room was tidy, but obviously lived in. The bed was unmade. Science holonovels and journals displayed on a shelf. A few plants. A bird in a huge cage displayed in the center of a coffee table. Lots of decorations.

“Is that bird registered?” Vikas asked as he watched the bird hop around the cage. It looked at them from beady eyes and chirped prettily. It looked well cared for. Vikas didn’t recognize the species.

“I’ll check,” Nozumo said, tapping on her PADD. Vikas looked around the room. Vikas began admiring the plants. They were all rather pretty and he thought about getting a few of these in his own quarters. He reached out a finger to brush along the petals of a delicate, vibrant flower. Pain shot up his arms and Vikas hissed, withdrawing his hand. He glanced down, shocked to see blood dripping from his fingers.

“Don’t touch any of the plants,” Vikas warned Nozuma, bringing up his own PADD. He snapped a picture of the plant and ran a search. Information came back quickly.

“I’m going to have to go to Sick Bay,” Vikas said, “but we have some time. A sinking feeling in the pitt of his stomach began to grow.

“Sir…” Nozumo said. “This bird..it’s not registered, but it’s an endangered species.”

Vikas nodded as he took more pictures of the plants. “These plants are… definitely not regulated. This one produces Felicium. This one is from Archer IV which produced a psychotropic drug from the flowers. These are Dedestris flowers….”

All of them were not supposed to be here. Nozumo pursed her lips and didn’t say anything as she looked around. Vikas continued looking. His fingers were still bleeding and they were beginning to swell. He was beginning to feel dizzy and nauseous.

Still… he felt there was something else here. He looked around the quarters. Nozumo was looking under the bed. Vikas inspected the sonic shower.

“Here, sir,” Nozumo said as she peered under the coffee table. “There’s a secret compartment.”

Vikas went over and gently transferred the birdcage to the floor. Together, he and Nozumo flipped the table gently and slid the compartment open. Vikas swore.

“Are those.. Time crystals?: Nozumo peered. Both of them knew not to touch anything. The compartment was large. Inside were a lot of things that should not be there. Memory engrams, explosives, and weapons stored carefully. There were drugs, some medicinal, some not, and raw chemicals and liquids Vikad didn’t recognize. That was definitely a Borgia plant. Vikas sighed

“This is all black market stuff,” Nozumo said.

“Absolutely,” Vikas agreed. “Quarantine this place and call in a team. We have enough evidence here to justify it. Carefully ask a science officer who isn't too acquainted with Caruso to help identify these. Don’t touch the plants without them. Having a medic on hand wouldn’t be a bad idea either.”

“You should get to Sick Bay, sir.” Nozumo suggested. “You aren’t looking too well.”

“Heading there now,” Vikas agreed as sweat began to bead on his forehead and bile threatened to rise in his stomach. “I think we have enough to take Caruso into custody. I’ll let the commander know if you want to send someone to report to the captain,”

“Aye, sir,” Nozumo said and headed back to the security office.

Vikad tapped his badge while he headed towards Sick bay “Vikas to Commander Kel,”

FEEDBACK:

It was coherent and easy to follow. I would appreciate more context when choosing placement options. For example, what would life be like for a character on a Delta Rebel Allegiance vs. a Civilian ship, for example.

HOW DID YOU FIND THIS APPLICATION:

Referred to be another writer for Azeri Fleet

I'm going to go ahead and reach out to this one, since Karen told me that they might be interested in Axel.  I wanted it out there for you all to see though and we will see where it goes from there.

Sounds good.  Glad to see app system still works.  Even better we have applications.

I don’t know how they managed to use the form. The old site doesn’t work at all for me and the form on the new site also hasn’t been working for me (although I haven’t tried in a few days).

I am glad they did find it though. Good to know it’s still accessible.

It was probably accessed directly through Axels website.   Do you have a link to it on your own sites?

Thanks Richard. I will add this to all of the sites I run and I’ll put it on the new site too, since the form I set up there doesn’t seem to be working.
