You mentioned this is a duology, can you think of a more specific name
than "Transylvanian Novels"? Is there a main character we can name it
after instead?

There are several characters that appear in both novels, but Michael Apafi is probably the most important; so I suppose "Apafi Novels" could work. Both deal with Transylvania and Ottoman's control of it, and seem to be a way for the author to defend the cultural independence of his own nation of Hungary (in my opinion). Do you think the name of Apafi is better? I think both work, but I'll defer to your opinion.

I just think that "Transylvanian Novels" is too generic and we could
conceivably have other novel series that could share that name. Apafi
might also not be a great choice if it's a real person.

I don't disagree with you, but there might not be a completely appropriate name for the duology. Many of the characters are real people, and so would have the same problem with just "Apafi Novels," and any reference to geographical locations would incur the same issue with "Transylvanian Novels."

How about "Prince Apafi Novels"? I doubt there will many collections which feature the person of Michael Apafi acting as Prince of Transylvania, so this is unlikely to interfere with others potential future editions in the site. If none of these options are good then I simply don't know which would be a good candidate. Another possible name, although geographical, would be a reference to Apafi's capital, Fehérvár, referencing the Hungarian name of the city of Alba Iulia.

Ok, I changed the name of the collection in 'Midst the Wild Carpathians.

I finished proofreading, and would like your opinion on some things:

- There are three instance where an ellipsis is the only final punctuation (i.e. The second-to-last paragraph in  page 348). Should I leave them as-is or add a final period?

- Two characters have inconsistent names between this book and the ’Midst the Wild Carpathians (the first part of the duology); Paul Béldi (Paul Beldi in the other book) and Denis Banfy (Banfi there). Should I normalize them to their most frequent version? If so, this will require a change in ’Midst the Wild Carpathians.

- There is an instance of "Dhzin," which be the context, is supposed to be Jinn. This is spelled both as Jinn and Djinn in the corpus. Do you think I should change it to either?

- There is one mention of the city of Baghdad, here spelled Bagdad. Both spellings occur in the corpus, should I change it to Baghdad, which seems the preferred current spelling?

- Finally, there is a mention of Dzengis Khan, which is supopsed to be, I believe, Genghis Khan. I'm not sure this qualifies as a sound-like change. What do you think?

You can leave it with what `typogrify` has done; no need to add the extra full-stop.

- Two characters have inconsistent names between this book and the ’Midst the Wild Carpathians (the first part of the duology); Paul Béldi (Paul Beldi in the other book) and Denis Banfy (Banfi there). It would be worth normalizing these (we did the same with names in related Trollope novels). I think you're okay with generating the pull-request for Wild Carpathians?

- There is an instance of "Dhzin," which be the context, is supposed to be Jinn. This is spelled both as Jinn and Djinn in the corpus. Do you think I should change it to either?

You could make an [Editorial] change Dhzin -> Djinn, under these circumstances.

- There is one mention of the city of Baghdad, here spelled Bagdad. Both spellings occur in the corpus, should I change it to Baghdad, which seems the preferred current spelling?

The version you've got is the most frequent in the corpus, so might as well leave this one instance alone.

- Finally, there is a mention of Dzengis Khan, which is supposed to be, I believe, Genghis Khan. I'm not sure this qualifies as a sound-like change. What do you think?

This one is beyond my competence ... I'm not sure about sound-alike either. For such a well-known figure, it makes sense to me to update to `Genghis Khan`. Of course, put that in its own commit, and if it needs to be unpicked, that can just be dropped.

If I might add context on Genghis Khan from my linguistics background, there's no one standard system for romanization of Mongolian. Another spelling that's been common in the past is Chinggis Khan.

Modern English speakers might pronounce the first bit like 'get' but it looks like the spelling started pronounced like 'gee' or may have come from a transliterator's error working with a Persian text which stuck.

Whether or not that makes it sound-alike, I guess would be up to interpretation.

Thank you David. I think this ready for a review, Robin.

Like was mentioned above, I changed Dzengis to Genghis, since it might not be obvious to everyone that they are the same person. I actually read in the past that Chinggis would be closer to how his name would be pronounced in Mongolian, but this clearly beyond a sound-alike modernization. If wither you or Alex thinks it should be changed I can revert it.

I'll make the PR on ’Midst the Wild Carpathians after this is reviewed.

There are some instances of "Stambul." Although the modern spelling would be "Istambul," Alex said in another production that both spellings are valid, so I left it.

Hopefully there won't be much issues.

Alex, the toolset seems to be mostly functional on Windows 11, but I can't run build --check-only. This time is seems that there is a problem with "byte 0xf3." I'm not sure if that's something wrong on my end or with the toolset, so I thought I should bring this up. It runs fine on Ubuntu.

I'm able to run both se build --check and se build --check-only on my
windows 11 virtual machine without problems. If it also happens with
--check then maybe it's a Java/Java VM problem. You can try running the
epubcheck Java binary that's distributed with the toolset independently
to see if the crash is there.

Using the epubcheck jar file directly in a epub file, it works, but se build --check and --check-only always return the error. I'm guessing this is not an issue with Java. I can still use Ubuntu, so it doesn't stop any work for me. It would be interesting to know if anyone else suffers from this.

Issues at https://github.com/HendrikBK/mor-jokai_the-slaves-of-the-padishah_robert-nisbet-bain/issues/1. Nothing much, just a spelling mistake, a couple of recommended spelling modernisations, and a single rebase.

Nice.

This is the third of my productions that the word "Djinn/Jinn" appears, and both spellings appear elsewhere in the corpus, maybe this is a candidate for modernize-spelling? Maybe "Bagdad/Baghdad" as well. What do you think?

I think you’re working on some specialized productions. :)

But, for raw numbers, we have 47 [Dd]jinn and 17 [Jj]inn in the corpus. And 83 Bagdad’s.

It would be worth it to modernize Baghdad.

I looked up djinn/jinn on n-gram and was surprised to find that Jinn is,
and always was, more popular in both en-US and en-GB.

I've always thought Djinn was the more common spelling and I can hardly
recall ever seeing Jinn in print. Our own corpus seems to back that.
Maybe this is a case for the old editor's override on a matter of taste
instead of doing what n-gram says?

M-W agrees with ngram, saying that djinn(i) is a less common variant of jinn(i). (And the “Did you know?” says it’s “usually represented in our alphabet as jinni.”)
