IPTV Server Setup Advise Needed!

Hi,

I’m currently busy setting up Stalker Portal. I have successfully installed the portal in local environment and can connect using a MAG250 and watch channels.

Before going public I would like to get some advice on bandwidth consumption and other requirements.

I have the following

•          150 Channels (streams)
  
•          200/300 (subscribers) using MAG only.
  

My idea is to host the stalker portal on a dedicated server in a Datacenter. And stream my channels from home to the Stalker Portal.

Dedicated server (DataCenter)

•          Do I need 1GBps connection on the dedicated?
  
•          How much bandwidth do the 200/300 users consume?
  
•         Any advice in which datacenter/provider?
  

Stream Server (home or ...?)

-          MuMuDVB to create multicast streams in Local network.

-          What internet connection do I need to stream public 150 Channels?

I have currently a 500down/500up Mbps Fiber connection Is this enough?

What do you guys advise me? Help is really appreciated.

Hello

Your streams to each stb will be sent from your streaming server which at the moment is mumudvb?

The stalker portal technically is a directory to tell the authorised stb's where to go for the streams

So if im correct the stalker portol does not stream.. so there will be no bandwith issue there.

The clients wil get a link to the stream url thats located at home? So is 500MBps upload link OK for all thos channels?

The stalker portal is the key to connecting stb's with the relevant streams etc whether it be TV channel or Video on Demand, etc. band width isnt really much of an issue compared to streaming server.

MUMUDVB raw streams direct from a tv card are somewhere in region of 6mb so you will struggle to get a stream of that bandwidth through any network which is why you need a streaming server inbetween or use external CDN such as wowza, etc.

Mumudvb had http option so as not to flood your wifi network too.

My Network provider is Vodafone in the Netherland.

I don't have a bandwidth limit.

Whow would you suggest to make my streams form home available public?

if you choose to do it in house them encoding software such as ffmpeg, vlc. you will need 1 server for every 12 channels approx

Wowza it s multi platform encoding service, you install it on a server that has the bandwidth to serve

How do other people stream all thos channels.

Most of them are from eastern europe where the iternet connection is lower then here in NL.

Your statement about Eastern Europe connection speed/price is wrong. Most likely its twice(at minimum) cheaper than you pay.
