As I shared with you the other day, Kokuren Forum this year plans to visit Sri Lanka to learn the efforts for peacebuilding and establishing sustainable society after the long conflict. We hope that Japanese young professionals and students will see and feel the ground operations of international organizations, and think what they can do in their future career.

I am extremely grateful if you could connect us to your office in Sri Lanka, and facilitate our communication so that IOM Sri Lanka Office can support our intention. Then we hope to identify appropriate IOM projects and activities to visit on the ground and make necessary logistical arrangements. Our visit will be 6 to 12 September.

Please see attached a draft Terms of Reference for the Sri Lanka Study Program (SSP).

Warmest greetings, and long time no see. It is my extreme pleasure to meet you again this time in a totally different context. I hope you remember me from Islamabad in 2010-2011, as Acting Director or UNIC. I resigned from the UN in 2014 and moved on to strategic consulting, to mobilize private resources for sustainable and inclusive development. I am confident that you are as successful as when you were in Pakistan !

Kokuren Forum (UN Forum in Japanese), which I founded 10 years ago is a network of individuals interested in the UN and issues that UN addresses. This year, the Forum brings 40 Japanese young professionals and students to Sri Lanka to learn peace building and efforts for sustainable development.

I asked Uramoto-san, who I have known also for 10 years, to connect us to ILO Sri Lanka office, and now I found you !

As in the attached ToR, a group of 40 Japanese will visit Sri Lanka between 6 and 12 September, and the group hopes to visit UN’s operations and activities, and discuss challenges with staff members. Will it be possible for your office to support this initiative? What we expect is simple:

1) Information on ILO’s activities in Sri Lanka;
2) Support for our visit to a few of your projects/activities in Sri Lanka (all travel costs will be on us);
3) Briefing by you or your deputy for the group on ILO’s activities.

If this is fine for you, I will designate a few people in charge of communication between us from now onward.

It was so nice hearing from you. Every time I meet colleagues from the RO I always enquire about your whereabouts. You are really missed by colleagues in the office.

Mr Tase is most welcome to visit my office and my post-conflict projects in the North and the East. As you know the post-conflict project LEED in the north has been cited by Australia High Commission as a Model project, which has revived many Cooperatives and created so many employment opportunities. Please ask Mr. Tase to contact me directly and we will provide all assistance as required.

At the moment, most activities are going on in the East (which was also conflict-affected) which would entail around a 7-hour drive (driving time to Kilinochchi where you visited is about the same). There are internal flights, but UNDSS has recently downgraded the security ratings for the internal airline to "d" and has asked us not to use it except in case of an emergency.

Kokuren Forum (“UN" Forum in Japanese), which I founded 10 years ago is a network of individuals interested in the UN and issues that the international community addresses. This year, the Forum brings 40 Japanese young professionals and students to Sri Lanka to learn peacebuilding and efforts for sustainable development.

Regarding your email, we are very excited that there are many interesting projects going on in your country. As we would like to study about the projects, could you kindly share with us more information about the projects you mentioned, to the extent appropriate.

 

About us, we are going to visit Sri Lanka from 6th to 12th September, 2015. Although our schedule will be a little tight, we are considering taking an ambitious driving trip to the project site, to see and feel about the project. Members who will visit the project site shall be around 20 members consisting of young professionals and students.

具体的なプロドキュがもらえるといいですね。

余談ですが、イランも端数あって4.5hでした。計算しにくいです（笑）

かずさん

マッピングですが、Google mapsで十分ワークするかと考えます。

ArcGISのArcMapでもルート作成やルート解析機能があったのは覚えていますが、初心者コースでは出てきません・・。
