v-5.0.1 Problem with Windows 10 Instillation

I installed v-5.0.1 in a virtual environment on my Windows 10 Laptop. All seemed to go well until I opened the app for the first time. I was greeted with an error message that the installation doesn't have the spyder-kernel module or the right version (screenshot is attached.)

Pip install spyder-kernels failed, as did a second installation into a pristine directory.

Please advise.

why did pip fail? What was the error message? Are you using anaconda or the standard python from python.org?
