i have 2 spyder envronments

1. py3.6 uses spyder 3.3
2. py3.7 uses spyder 4

I installed spyder 4rc3 under py37 environment, which setup a new spyder environment which I would like to continue using w/ spyder 4.

After I updated spyder using conda update spyder in py37, two things happened that didn't w/ rc3.

1. it warns me that spyder 3 is running
Spyder is already running. If you want to open a new
instance, please pass to it the --new-instance option

2. it loads the spyder 3 python files/working directory under py3.6 environment

is there an easy way to revert back to the previous behavior when I opened spyder 4rc3?

I would like to keep using the py3.7 environment setting with spyder 4, if possible.

Thank you.

Hi,

4.0rc3 and all our previous betas used a different configuration directory to allow users to test a development version without altering the settings of the stable one.

However, now that Spyder 4 is stable, that feature is not available anymore, sorry. So you can't: a) Run Spyder 3 and 4 in parallel, unless you start one of the with the --new-instance option; and b) Have a different set of saved files for each one.

Cheers,
Carlos

Hi,

If we could select which configuration directory to use per spyder environment at some point in the future, would be great!

For the plot pane, plot chart, my zooom is always stuck at 40%, with the magnifying glass +/1 shaded out.
It is difficult to view w/o the zoom.  How do I enable zooming in on the plots?

Thanks.
