Spyder notebook flow rate

Due to problems with Jupyter, I switched to using Spyder notebook. However, I have since written a program that won't run because the IOPub data rate is exceeded. It's telling me to change the config variable `--NotebookApp.iopub_data_rate_limit`, which seems to be the solution for a Jupyter notebook but isn't helpful for Spyder. Does anyone know how to change this variable for Spyder notebook?
