Hi,

After setting up and running my SWAT+ model in QGIS (QSWAT+) and also checking/running it in the SWAT+ Editor, when I move to the SWAT+ Toolbox there is also a “Run Model” option there.

Do I need to run the model again from the Toolbox, or can I just use the outputs already generated from QGIS/Editor? In other words, does the Toolbox automatically recognize the latest run, or is it standard practice to rerun the model inside Toolbox before doing any analysis?

Thanks for clarifying!

Running in SWAT+ Tool box is conducted to extract the calibration and validation period from the SWAT + Editor simulation.

Thank you, so if I have data of 15 years, how to divide it into calibration and validation periods? I don't see any option in SWAT+ toolbox.

Suppose that your simulation period is 20 years (1981-2000). Your calibration and validation period should be subsets of this. Say calibration (1991-96) and validation (1997-00). Once you load the entire simulation data (1981-2000) into the SWAT+ Toolbox, feel free to run each period separately for extraction. I hope this elementary example makes everything apparent.

First off, thank you so much for taking the time to respond.

Let’s say my total simulation period is 2010–2024. I plan to use 2010–2014 as a warm-up period, 2015–2020 for calibration, and 2021–2024 for validation.

Am I correct in thinking that I would first run the 2015–2020 period inside SWAT+ Toolbox for sensitivity analysis and calibration, then adjust parameter values (e.g., CN, etc.), and afterwards rerun the model with calibrated parameters in Toolbox for the validation period (2021–2024)?

Sorry if this seems basic, I’m still trying to fully grasp the workflow as a beginner lol.

Emily.
