Migrate to New Recommended Radio Settings

Hey neighbors,

There has been a lot of research in the community over the past couple of months on improving deliverability, and there are now new recommended default radio settings. By making the bandwidth a bit more narrow, we're able to avoid common interference from unrelated traffic that exists on the ISM band. These changes have drastically improved the mesh reliability in cities where adoption has grown.

Please update your Radio Settings on all devices (clients and repeaters) to use the new preset options for USA/Canada: 910.525MHz / SF7 / BW62.5 / CR5

Note that both the Bandwidth and Spreading Factor have changed from our previous recommendations. I'll be updating the website with these new details shortly.

Unfortunately, this is a backward incompatible change, meaning that connectivity with devices using the old settings will not work, so it's best for the community to move quickly to avoid bifurcation. This should not be a common occurrence.

Those were the default settings when I configured my 2 new repeaters and client.  My main problem now is getting my repeater up higher off the ground.

Yeah, there was a short period of time when the MeshCore client had both the legacy preset option and the new defaults, but that was removed so any new devices moving forward should expect to be using the updated settings. Worth a double-check for anyone that's had a node for more than a couple of months.

Height is definitely might! I've read some fun stories of people experimenting with throwing a node on a drone or even attached a balloon to see how much range they can get. Cheers!
