Can I change the photos in my template slideshow?

This is our most asked question!

The answer has always been "yes" but now it's much much easier (no knowledge of HTML or Javascript required!)

Get in touch with us and we'll make a small tweak to your template. You'll then be able to upload and delete images from your slides directory and the changes will instantly happen on your template. All you need to ensure is that your new slide images are the exact same dimensions as the existing slides (we can let you know what those dimensions are).

Hi Haylee, thanks for getting in touch :) You sure can! I've just made the changes to your template. Here's the instructions for changing the images:

Log into the admin system, go to Site Settings, click Manage Assets next to your theme. Double click the 'slides' folder. Within that folder you can upload new jpeg files (no spaces in the names) and they'll appear in the slideshow. You can delete old slides from there too. The names don't matter, the system will pick them up. The Important Part: is that you need to make your uploaded images the exact correct dimensions or they'll appear stretched on the page. The dimensions of your slides images are: 358w x 236h . You'll need to use an image program to both resize and then crop the image to match those dimensions.

Hi Delwyn, thanks for getting in touch! I hope your holidays have started well :)

I've updated your template so that you can follow the instructions that I gave Haylee. The only change is the dimensions of your slides:

Width: 735px

Height: 281px

You need to make sure your replacement slides are exactly this dimension. You'll need to both resize and then crop the images to get to those dimensions.

Hi I have updated the photos but on the previous ones, there where up to 3 photos on the same slide.  how can I do this.

Hi Delwyn, We achieved this on our end by using an image editing programme to arrange several photos together into one image. Personally we use Adobe Fireworks, and more recently Affinity Designer to do our image manipulation work, though many other image editing programs will allow you to do a similar thing.

We do offer a service where we can do this for you. You just need to send us through your photos. Normally this comes to about $50 +GST worth of time.

The dimensions for your slides need to be exactly:

Width 1,280px

Height 330px

In short, you can upload new slides and delete old slides under Manage Assets in Site Settings. Double click the slides folder and you'll see all the slides there. Be sure that you upload new slides of the correct dimensions or they'll appear stretched :)

Hi there :) thanks for getting in touch :)

Yes you definitely needed a tweak to your template. I've done that now and the slide that you've placed in there is now available.

Just a couple of things:

• I converted your PNG into a JPEG as a jpeg is much smaller. Before uploading your other slides convert them to jpeg's first :)
• The size of your template slide area is 722 × 321. The image in there is close but slightly too high. If you upload images of different dimensions they'll appear stretched on the template.
