Hi All,

This is built with a more recent version of AvaloniaUI to see if this fixes the virus warning.

It also has a level 0 mode in JS8 which allows logging JS8 spots without JS8Call being installed and which uses less cpu.

There is an option to cancel the IQ balance when using RTL dongles, I'm interested to see if this is the cause of the level issues that some people see on the rtl, so if you experience the levels shooting up I would be interested to hear if switching the iq balance off fixes it.

Hi Alan, thanks for the new version. Unfortunately Bitdefender is still complaining about SparkExtIOsource_x86.exe.

I ran this new zip file past Virus Total and it reported 15 of 67 security vendors flagging the file. Mind you for all I know they could all be using the same engine. (Your earlier email about Virus Total had disappeared into spam otherwise I probably wouldn't have bothered.)

The option to cancel IQ balance sounds promising. I’m not sure the symptoms were the same but I recall having to keep IQ balance off in one of the other SDR packages I use (possibly gqrx).

Hi thanks for that,
this version simple removes the extio exe files for now https://www.sparksdr.com/download/SparkSDR.2.0.937.win64.zip I did try rebuilding them with updated libraries but still got a warning.

Hi Mike,
just had the rtl gain issue happen here and it is caused by the iqbalance, so I now know what to fix (just the how to work out).  Turning off the iqbalance reverts the level to normal.

Hi Alan

Good news about the IQ balance.

The situation with Bitdefender has got worse though. It now interrupts the file download on the basis that the source is iffy.

Sure enough I found it was also blocking access to www.sparksdr com. I clicked through the 'take me there anyway' messages, got to the website and was then able to download the new zip file from the link in the email. Needless to say the file is clean when scanned.

Out of an abundance of caution I'm doing a full PC virus scan, which I'm sure will come back clean.

PPM still jumps.
0.00 to -0.38 the single is unchanged, when I go to -0.39 the carrier moves.

ft8 mode still seems to not work, I get the same behavior as the old version:

The 2nd receiver is working well.

Hi Josh,
I've being trying to get to the bottom of the ppm issue but have not got an answer yet, it is as if the rtl does not really tune to what you ask for, I shall keep looking. The ft8 issue is odd, by the time the data gets to the ft8 decoder the code dealing with the rtl is very divorced, does it fail straight away and does a lower sample rate help.

Thanks for taking a look.

It fails right away.
Changing to 1.536M seems to help.

The order matters...
USB and 3.2M
3.2M to 1.536M
USB to FT8
The waterfall updates and I get decodes.

If you use this pattern:
USB and 3.2M
USB to FT8
3.2M to 1.536M
The waterfall does not update, but I do get decodes, from a different TX I used..

The audio tone listening with USB is also better at 1.536M.  I'll make sure to keep my device at 1.536M bandwidth.

I tried PPM correction at 1.536M, no change.  it still goes from no change to a jump.

One suggestion I have is squelch on SSB signals.  There is some usage here on 2m ssb, and it would be nice to set a receiver on those frequencies, which are at 144.220 and 144.240.  That is nice and close to the FT8 frequency and would fit the bandwidth well.

Alan,

Is there a version that I can run on Chromebook?

This morning as I VPN'd into my home network, I discovered that SPARKSDR  version 2.0.933 crashes on Chromebook.

Hi JPW,
does it crash at startup, it looks like it does and is probably an Avalonia issue. I hope to release new linux versions over the holiday.  If you are feeling adventurous you could try running with gdb and report the backtrace when it crashes.
