Folks,

The website for the SouthNLP Symposium 2024 is now publicly available: https://southnlp.github.io/southnlp2024/

Many thanks to our program chairs, Yangfeng Ji (University of Virginia), Lifu Huang (Virginia Tech), and Xuan Wang (Virginia Tech), who worked hard to draft the call for papers: https://southnlp.github.io/southnlp2024/cfp.html

We plan to announce the first CFP on November 1, 2023. In the meantime, please inform us of any issues with the website.

Two important action items:

  1. We need volunteers for the program committee to review the submissions. The review process is expected to be minimal as we plan to accept most submissions. If you can, please apply as a volunteer. The reviews will take place between February 1 – 14, 2024.
  2. We need two keynote speakers for the event, preferably one internal and one external speaker. Please recommend speakers by 10/18 (W) so we have enough time to invite them. Industrial researchers are also welcome to be invited.

Please fill out the following form for the above action items:

https://forms.gle/wkQzUhYXBCyvdRLW6

Thank you again for participating in this event. We are very excited about this symposium; personally, I have received many good feedback about it 😊. Have a wonderful week!

Best,

Folks,

Hello there!

This is a friendly reminder to complete the survey by tomorrow. For the program committee, it would be greatly appreciated if we could have at least one volunteer from each university. So far, we have received volunteers from Duke, Emory, Texas A&M, UT Dallas, Virginia Tech, and the University of Virginia.

Currently, we have 4 nominated speakers for the symposium; it would be great to have a few more options. If you have any suggestions for speakers who would be a good fit for this symposium, please don't hesitate to share.

Thank you for your time and consideration. Have a wonderful week!

Best,

Jinho D. Choi
