Drifting latency on Sonobus

Friends and I have been using Sonobus for about 4 years with great success. Lately, one of our member's latency began to drift radically: starting at about 40ms and drifting above a second. I can't figure out what changed or what we could do to get a handle on this problem.  Sadly, we're all old (average age >70) and nobody in the group is specially computer-competent.  Baby talk may be necessary.

We also have drifting, seem to have to manually adjust to remove echo

Same computer and audio hardware at his end. We're all on Apple Macs and the current OS.  Focusrite  I think.  I don't know who his provider is.
