Another feature that would be extremely valuable is an integrated Event Scheduler.
Many broadcasters have recurring live events every week. For example:
Sunday at 2:00 PM – Football Match
Monday at 8:00 AM – Morning Show
Friday at 7:00 PM – Church Service
Instead of manually opening SonoBus and connecting to the correct group every time, users could create scheduled events.
Example:
Event
Name: Football Match
Date: Every Sunday
Time: 1:55 PM
Group: Stadium_A
User Profile: Sports
Auto Connect: Enabled
At the scheduled time, SonoBus could automatically:
Launch (if not already running).
Load the selected profile.
Connect to the predefined group.
Select the correct audio devices.
Automatically reconnect if the connection is interrupted.
Additional options could include:
One-time or recurring events.
Weekly schedules.
Calendar-style interface.
Start before the event (e.g., 5 or 10 minutes early).
Automatic disconnection after the event.
Desktop notifications.
Optional execution of scripts before or after connecting.
This would make SonoBus much more powerful for broadcasters, churches, podcast studios, sports productions, and remote live events.
These two features—Multi-Endpoint Failover and an Event Scheduler—would significantly improve automation, reliability, and operational efficiency for professional users.
Thank you for considering these suggestions. I believe they would make SonoBus even more competitive as a professional remote audio solution.

This is a free program developed for musicians to jam remotely. I'm sure there are paid programs that would be able to accommodate your needs.

I understand that SonoBus was originally developed for musicians, and I fully respect that. However, the underlying technology is not exclusive to musicians.

Both musicians and broadcasters rely on the same core requirements: low-latency, high-quality, peer-to-peer audio transmission. Radio stations also transmit music, live performances, concerts, interviews, and live events every day.

My suggestion was not to change the purpose of the project, but to point out a legitimate use case that extends beyond its original audience. If these features do not align with the project's vision, I completely respect that decision. However, dismissing the idea simply because the software was "made for musicians" overlooks the fact that the same technology can successfully serve other professional applications as well.

Thank you for creating and maintaining such an excellent piece of software.

Mauro you can already do most of what you ask for by combining Sonobus with other free tools, for example you can launch sonobus.exe via Companion scheduled triggers, with each different one passing different arguments in the execution path, that would allow to select a particular pre-created Sonobus config file on startup, which would make it launch meeting your requirements. Companion can be handled remotely.

Not sure about the failover IP, but then again

I am a dual use case user (musician and remote production ) and even I wouldn’t want Sonobus to become bloated with niche features for the production world, that’s what Companion, OBS and paid products are for.

Also being an open source project, you can pay a developer to fork it and add the custom features for you!

Good luck 👍

I didn't dismiss your requests because SonoBus was coded for musicians. I was pointing out why SonoBus was originally developed and, more importantly, it's FREE. You are asking for a coder to remake his program for your specific use case at no charge.

Well put Maurio,

I also use Sonobus to push radio feeds to various devices locally and remotely for various purposes because it does so with ease.

Carry on making recommendations for future development, if this is an open source project someone might pick it up and take in another purpose specific direction 😊
