static route does not save upon reboot on Sonic-VS

Hello,

 

I’m having problems with static routing  when using Sonic-VS (2020-12 #44 last stable build) on EVE-NG platform. Could you please help, here are the details:

 

-        Whenever I add a static route  whether inside FRR (ip route …) or with “sudo config route add prefix”  it works.

-        Static-route is not saved into the config_db.json with “save config –y”  

-        Static route is added in “staticd.conf” if i create it with FRR. 

-        I also  added the route to config_db.json manually,  but upon reboot I can not see it in routing table  

 

"STATIC_ROUTE": {

    "11.11.11.0/24": {

        "distance": "10",

        "nexthop": "192.168.10.1"  à next-hop exists

    },

Am I missing something or Sonic-VS is built  for specific test purposes and and some things are missing (I see that frr jinja templates does not exist under /usr/share/…..).

Please refer the PR https://github.com/Azure/SONiC/pull/585 for configuring the STATIC_ROUTE in config-DB and make sure to set “frr_mgmt_framework_config” to “true” in DEVICE_METADATA table.

Currently, static route configurations are not kept via reboot.
Not only SONiC-VS, also real switches.
