P.S. You may have noticed that there wasn't an RC for this version. A couple months ago I announced that internally we were no longer requiring RCs for plugins, and that they would no longer be required for community plugins. In fact we're moving toward a faster release cycle for SonarQube itself, and as part of that we don't plan to put out SonarQube RCs any longer.

Hi Ann,

many thanks for an again great new SonarQube.
Some questions about the MySql deprecation:

Is there any forecast, when MySql support will be dropped completely?
After drop, is there any chance to get the existing migration tool (to migrate data i.e. to PostgreSql) for free?

cheers
Robert

Hi Robert,

Good questions!

Forecast: nothing firm yet, but probably by the next LTS
Migration: this is why there's nothing firm yet. We are likely to provide some version of the migration tool for free for this, but no plans yet, and no promises!

Ann

Hi Ann,

many thanks.
Am happy to hear, that you tend to a community friendly direction and hope that your discussions run well.

From a technical point of view: why are you dropping support for MySql - I also need to support multiple DB-Vendors, so this would be interesting.

Kind regards
Robert

Hi Robert,

We're dropping it because we're not confident we can deliver stable features with it because of its limitations & unexpected behaviors. For instance, we recently ran into a case where we had a deadlock when persisting two completely different rows in two concurrent transactions. There are other examples, but that was the straw.

HTH,
Ann

Hi S.

There's not an exact timeline for that yet. I'd say some time next year.
