Tomorrow's meeting - checkin before Jenny's leave

Hey folks,

Looking forward to chatting tomorrow.

For tomorrow's meeting, we'll check in with Jenny before she heads off on leave. (So worth checking in if you can make it.)

My progress:

* Locally, I have alpha code to loop through and download 1m DSM tiles, and pull them locally

* Within a few weeks,  this should be able to be scaled to as much CPU we throw at it, pushing through one of our blockers.

Soonish it should be ready to trial on a cloud instance, so I'll be looking to work out a way to pay for access to a cloud environment, or find someone with access.

We can discuss this tomorrow.

Hi folks, yes looking forward to seeing y'all if you're around!

I also finally got a reply from Lynker Analytics, from their software engineer Leigh who I had cold-emailed. He was no the team who built the solar estimates for homes.co.nz, and more recently Power My Farm with ASB.

Theirs was the model that seemed closest to what we want, taking into account shading from hills, trees, buildings, roof slope/aspect, and I found out yesterday also weather, but it's a closed-source product. However, they seemed very open to sharing data and models - they're aware of Rewiring and seem to be supportive of the work/mission.

I'm meeting with their geospatial data scientists Jeremy tomorrow at 11am (NZT) who knows more about the modelling. Let me know if you'd like to join for that.

I tried to get the meeting to be before our 10am chat, but they weren't available, so I'll report back via this email chain.
