MarNational Language

Whenever a statement is given, stating that Hindi is our national language, it is causing anger, revulsion and aversion among most non Hindi states. Every Language of India has very ancient roots, growth, evolution and emotional branching into new and new words and phrases. All these states feel that Hindi is imposed.

The best solution is to prepare a new Dictionary of the Hindi language, where as meanings the corresponding words of the other Indian languages are adopted. While writing a piece in Hindi, Tamil words,Kannada words,Marathi,Assami,Bengali Words….all the corresponding words in every other Indian language shall be permitted and encouraged. The national language automatically unifies all Indians, but gets greatly enriched. While reading a piece in Hindi one will be learning the other languages also. Words have cultural and emotional Histories.

Gradually a new script common to all languages shall be developed. Then one will be able to write in that script in any language-Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Punjabi, Kashmiri, Oriya…

Coupled with the dictionary where every word in every language becomes a Hindi word also, gradually the all encompassing truly national language will emerge. The Telugu, Tamil, Kannada…,people gradually get acquainted with the great thinkers from Assam,Meghalaya,Mizora,Kashmir,Gurkhaland, etc.

Imagine the gigantic vocabulary that becomes available to write songs, poems, stories, novels, essays, where very accurate and exact word becomes available. The musics, songs, poetry, stories and novels become expressions in the national language. It will create the great surge of national pride, and new and new expressions, where one finds one’s own language as the great Indian National Language.

Everyone want India to become a Hindu nation.
Without Hindi India cannot become a Hindu nation.

Reflecting on your proposition for a national Language which is heterodox
my mind goes back to the 1960's at IIT Kharagpur
We had senior professor teaching Combustion Engineering who freely used a mix of Bengali, Hindi and English
and all felt we were being taught in English only.
The same has been experienced later when  a blend of English, Tamil and malayalam was in vogue in Trivandrum
at our workplace.

In fact it is sorry affair that we are still dependent of foreign language.

Am I really to feel sorry about it?

I love my mother tongue and I am worried it becoming dodo. And if we have tolerance to accept other Indian language as my language, what is the difficulty in accepting English an international language?

Language is to communicate. Literary value of any language is now not of any use.

Many literary giants including Shakespeare, Keats got their works translated to Latin expecting death of English. Ultimately Latin died!

"Literary value of any language is not of any use"

I feel pained to see this state of affairs sir. I for one believe that language is the first conduit to our cultural connect and higher order objectives in life if you have belief in spirituality. Though we  say supreme defies speech and symbol, the earlier steps of sadhaka is always moored in language based connectivity with the divine.

The Shopkeepers language called English for us  is quite useful in materialistic life. But which ever is your language to connect with the divine is very important in later stages of life if you are a seeker.

Along the pathway to the divine, it emotionally connects one to our culture, heritage, and ancestry, civilization. We are having generations who are losing connect with this. In fact ASN sir used to say "I am more obstinate with my mother tongue". But the fact is as I foray into the depth of it I am awe struck.

There is no subject which is left untouched. Management, Sculpture, Arts, Culture, Values, Technology, Medicine. Because we have lost the connect with our native language we are losing these treasures and becoming blind  followers of the occident. This is true of any Indian Language. And the beauty is our Indian language treasures talk beyond this materialistic outlook and take you to higher realms. At some point in life, this awakening comes.

I would say the other way, common commercial languages have lost their sheen for connect and communication as we are shrinking with emojis and shortening texts. New age children speak sparsely.

Emotional connect certainly needs language.
My quest for language is now inward towards my seeking. And so much has been written by our ancestors, on how to pursue our goals.

It will be to our peril if we dont learn our mother tongue especially. We will be the only race begging sitting on a treasure bounty. I am convinced on that.

Before concluding about dogmatism, thrust of beliefs, archaic values etc on Indian nativity languages, atleast to know about them language is a must.

And one birth in my opinion is not enough to fathom it. Period.

Regards

Indu

This is the exact statement. Stand corrected.

True Sir. But people like me are limited in our use of English to commercial value today. Exploratory reading is less. Thanks to all of you I read some excerpts.  Even I have read authors like Arthur Hailey who is very descriptive in detailing of any industry, Russell,  S Radhakrishnan and all. S Ramakrishnan of Bhavans. I like Some for knowing the language, some for the intricacies and some for abstract thinking.

But my connect is more in my mother tongue which is unexplored for me and taken a backseat all these years. I find that Native Indian Language books focussing on Bhakthi, spirituality ooze our values, ethics and moorings much better. It is in us in flesh and blood. Even English books of Say Chithbhavanandha appeal to me as my current focus is there. I must admit that I am more tuned towards Indian way of life. That is perhaps my inadequacy too.

My appeal Sir,is to develop a common script for all national languages,so that one will be able to read any of our languages using the same common script, where a Telugu can read Telugu,a Tamilian can read Tamil,a Maharastrian can read Marathi...

Sir

We will get AI , as we speak in one language it will translate real time in another language.

Currently like a chatbot, a voice synthesizer to answer like a human is being developed by IIT M. With all local dialects, slangs  etc. to help rural citizens

Good Suggestion
I can speak or understand if spoken: Telugu and Kannada
If a common script is used it will help people like me!

Dear Indu,
What the kids of Madras IIT achieved is very great. But their innovation is not common script for all languages. When there is common script,I will be able to read not only my language, but gradually other languages also, ultimately blending every Indian language into one language.Just imagine the gigantic cultural sweep of such a language.
