The सभा (celestial council) gathered in a sky that no longer shone as it once did. The blue had thinned; the winds carried the scent of smoke.
At the center stood Prithvi, the Earth Goddess—silent, wounded.
Around her assembled the Gods.
“I was once sacred,” Agni began, his flames flickering uneasily.
“I warmed homes, carried offerings, transformed matter into light. Now I am trapped in engines, in weapons, in furnaces that never rest. I burn forests not as ritual—but as consequence.”
He turned to the others.
“They call this progress. They call this science. But where is reverence?”
Varuna’s voice flowed, heavy with sorrow.
“My oceans choke. My rivers are imprisoned, diverted, poisoned. Once I reflected the heavens; now I mirror plastic and oil.”
He paused.
“They measure me, quantify me, dam me—yet they no longer listen to me.”
“And I,” said Vayu, restless and sharp,
“carry their smoke across the world. I enter every lung—human, animal, divine alike. They have turned breath itself into a burden.”
Her voice was deep, slow, and immense.
“They have forgotten,” she said,
“that they are not above me—but of me.”
She looked toward the सभा.
“They have divided themselves from me. They study me as an object, not as their own body.”
A distant, echoing voice emerged—calm, precise.
“Is this not the triumph of reason?”
A figure appeared—not a God, but an Idea given form.
“The world,” it said, “is a machine. To understand it, one must dissect it, measure it, control it.”
The Gods murmured.
“Understanding is not the problem,” Brahma said.
“Creation itself thrives on inquiry. But when understanding loses wonder, it becomes domination.”
“A machine?” Shiva said, eyes half-closed.
“If the universe were merely a machine, it would not dance.”
His voice deepened.
“The cosmos is not assembled—it unfolds. It is not engineered—it becomes.”
“There is truth in analysis,” Saraswati said gently.
“To observe, to question, to reason—these are gifts.”
She turned to the others.
“But when knowledge excludes experience, when intellect denies connection, it becomes incomplete.”
She looked at the Idea.
“You have reduced life to mechanism. In doing so, you have silenced meaning.”
“Science is not the enemy,” Vishnu said.
“It is a tool. But tools reflect the intent of their wielder.”
He raised his hand.
“When used with humility, science heals. When used with arrogance, it destroys.”
“Then why,” Agni demanded,
“do they celebrate destruction as achievement?”
“Because they have renamed it,” she said.
“They call extraction ‘development.’
They call exhaustion ‘growth.’
They call imbalance ‘progress.’”
The council fell silent.
Then, together, the Gods spoke—not in anger, but in grave clarity:
“We do not reject knowledge.
We do not reject science.
But we reject the illusion
that life is a machine,
that nature is separate,
that progress can exist without harmony.”
Saraswati stepped forward one last time.
“The future is not the abandonment of science,” she said,
“but its transformation.”
“A science that listens.
A progress that integrates.
A knowledge that remembers—
that the observer is not separate from the observed.”
Prithvi closed her eyes.
For a brief moment, the winds softened, the waters stilled, and the fire burned clear.
The Gods had not withdrawn their blessings.
But neither had they given their approval.
The decision, they knew, no longer belonged to them.

Kali Yuga is calculated to have commenced on 17th February 3102 BC of Julion Calendar). Now, axis of rotation of Earth is inclined at an angle of 23 and 1/2 degrees with respect to the perpendicular to the plane of earth‘s orbit around the Surya Graha and accordingly the resultant variation of the length of a day.
on earth and in a year resulting in the Seasons on Earth. In every year, one gets two Equinoxes in the Spring and Atumn seasons when both the day and night timings are exactly the same duration; the Summer and Winter solscices have the duration of day time as the longest and shortest respectively. Such are the astronomical features as visualised by the ancient Sages and subsequently rediscoverd by the modern findings is a scientific manner. Thus the Sun, the Mon and the Planets too all revolve around Bhumi as the latter remains stationary.
