There are lots of reasons for the
outcome, any one of which, if absent, could have tipped the
election. Definitely voter suppression, even if you discount half
of what Palast says.

including the anit-Trump media, basically as usual ignored issues
and portrayed Trump as champion of the (white) working class.
One thing the FBI intervention highlights is the role of entrenched rightwing and corporate forces in the government, regardless of the president. After 8 years, Obama's administration succeeded in making the EPA, Justice Dept. Civil Rights division, Labor Dept., and some others at least partly to fulfill their stated functions. But many pillars of state power, including the DOD, CIA, FBI, ICE, State Dept., and many others, remain firmly in the hands of the rightwing only slightly constrained by some of Obama's policies. Of course, they will all be worse under Trump.
