Did the maiden this morning. Skies were overcast. So, not ideal conditions for a first flight or any flight, for that matter. I have a hard time spotting a plane on cloudy days.

I fully expected the Toy to fly much like the Spirit Hot. Yes, it does and yet, no, it doesn't. By 'no' I mean...OMG. That was apparent on the very first power-climb to altitude. I like to throw in a roll or two during climb-outs, for that extra flurry. What I didn't expect was how quickly to Toy can roll. It did two rolls in a heartbeat. They were blindingly fast, and axial too. I have gliders that can roll quickly, but the Toy beats them all. To include the Flip, which is no slouch in that category. It should be noted that I have the flaps coupled to the ailerons. It's clear, however, there is no need for flaperons in 99% of the flying anyone would do with the Toy. Except perhaps for me.

I'm going to program some expo into the ailerons as well as reducing throw in the elevator. It's very responsive to roll control. Perhaps too much so. Likewise for the elevator. These changes should tame it a bit. I have butterfly programmed for landing. But I clearly didn't program in enough elevator compensation. Landing approach was badly done. I overshot myself by almost 200 feet. Ugh. Fortunately, there was room to spare.

The Toy weighs in at 1126 grams. A little more than 100 grams heavier than the Sprite Hot. So, it's only moderately faster. Anyway, once I've made these programming changes, I'll be anxious for flight #2. Happy landings!

Jan, I have thought about it. The closest I’ve come is flying my electric Edge. Very aerobatic. However, flying high performance electric gliders is what truly (to mix metaphors) floats my boat.
