I should have posted this last Saturday.
We had a great time at the sod farm. Wind started light and variable, but settled down as occasional breezes from the (mostly) East. Lift, sometimes awesome, but never a given and never easy. Dave may disagree - I seldom saw him with a glider on the ground. No one was working at the circle.
The sod itself is in good shape. The entire circle is now devoted to a single crop, so is pretty uniform. Harvesting is currently mostly on the East and West quadrants, with the South and North quadrants very nice indeed. Since the pivot was irrigating the South quadrant, we (naturally) used the North quadrant.
Before going out,
text Mike Hagerty at 505-249-6119 on a Wednesday, and ask permission to fly on the following Saturday. Confer among yourselves, and ONLY ONE person text Mike. He answered me pretty quick, but none of my subsequent texts got a response. Be sure to say you are representing the ASA. Do not drive on the grass (you know that already) and do not go out if it is muddy.
I will be out of town until Thursday, 30 April. I hope to go to the sod farm again, on Saturday, 2 May, so will be texting on Wednesday. Unless one of you guys beats me to it.
Yours, Greg
