Dan,

Please route this to the membership. It is time to remove the winch from Matt Aurand’s storage.

Many members utilized it around 10 years ago. I understand Buzz Averill  built the unit. It is a two-wheel trailer with trailer hitch. The photos show the winch and batteries. I have seen a video that shows a foot operated switch. I suspect the black box has accessories.

We are offering this free to members. A donation to the club is always appreciated.

I have one club winch as well and just recently I was thinking about bringing it out.

How many users would we have if I'd bring it out to BFP?

Kirby, the Explorer2 really wants to spread its wings again :)

Just some more about the winch:
It is a winch, retriever and trailer that the club purchased from a club in OK 15 to 20 years ago.  If there is anyone who is interested in finding a buyer, perhaps another club, on RC Groups, that would be great.  I suppose a sales commission to this volunteer would be in order. We paid about $700 at the time.  Otherwise, it will probably go to the dump.

If the winch/retriever set-up isn't of any value any more, the bare trailer itself might be sold on Craigslist after the gear is stripped off of it. I'd be willing to advertise it there, but I don't have any place convenient to park the trailer for potential buyers to examine it. My house in the mountains wouldn't work.

As I recall, the trailer never had a license plate. We figured we'd fudge a plea that it's "construction equipment" that wasn't required to have one. But do we have any kind of ownership papers? Like a title? We'd need to do a bill of sale at a minimum.

Rocky.  Dale Nutter arranged the purchased from Tulsoar.  I think this might be it in this news article. https://www.newson6.com/story/5e3677032f69d76f62088a26/tulsoar-flying-high

ASA members and Officers,

No members are interested in the winch.

I appreciate the background and advice info by Rocky, Dan T. and Richard S

With the Officers approval, I will pursue the junkyard solution. I have blank Bill of Sale form.

Agree with the dumpster solution, regrettably.  It was a decent piece of technology in its day (excepting the all too frequent line tangles), but our electric powered gliders have moved beyond that.

Which makes me ask, what to do with my collection of classic TD birds?
