Subject: [SeattleRobotics] SDP Mini SLAM Robot

On Saturday September the 8th, at the Robotics Society of Southern California club meeting at Cal State Long Beach, I presented and demo'ed the SDP Mini robot - a new platform with a complete "off the shelf" SLAM solution for $500... we can now map a room or an entire house in minutes, then instruct the robot to travel anywhere inside with remarkable accuracy... This solves the "go from point A to point B" problem that many of use have been trying to solve for years...

No more dead reckoning, no more line following, no more beacons, no more fiducial landmarks - just give the robot a destination and it will find it's way there avoiding obstacles along the way... autonomously and automatically....

The price includ es the Lidar, the Core SLAM processor, a breakout board and a mini robot complete with differential drive motors / wheels and encoders - that and the amazing RoboStudio software... all of that for $500 is a real bargain!

The following links carry the SDP Mini subject to availability:

This is the future and a paradigm shi ft for hobby robotics!

That’s an interesting set of technology to start a Pop Can Challenge robot from!

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like I’ll be able to make the practice this Saturday.

Our event has been moved to the main floor for Robothon!
