Christmas Greetings Fellow SMUGers! I have a problem with KeyChain and be continually told that I don’t have permission to access KeyChain. I do a lot of self-help at my end but even accessing Apple; I only get spurious answers. I hope you can help. My Kit is a bran new MacBook Air with the latest update. I am trying to ween myself off my 5 year old plus 12” MacBook, on which I have no problem with KeyChain I simply do not understand My my new MacBook Air does not let have access to KeyChain. I even tried taking my MacBook 12” off iCloud and no change.

Best Wishes for a Happy New Year, Peter

Do you have iCloud Keychain enabled?

What’s the name of the keychain it’s trying to access? Should say in the dialogue box asking for a password.

Hi Sam, and thanks,  it just says you do not have permission.  Also it sends a fault message to Apple.   I wish as you say,  it would ask for a password but it doesn’t.  I have signed out of my old MacBook 12”.  It still does not want to launch.  This has certainly foxed me for sure!

Best Wishes, Peter

Can you send a screenshot of the error?

Push Cmd+Shift+4 > press the space bar and the mouse icon turns into a camera > click the keychain window (or any window) and it’ll save a screenshot of just that window to the desktop

Hi Sam, Solved I had an old icon for Keychain so what I did was to delete it from Applications.. Where I found it I don’t know from where.  Why that did not  automatically happen?   Because Keychain was already ticked in iCloud when I managed to get into iCloud. The new Icon looks quite different in appearance to the old one.

Best Wishes, Peter
