Iphone not charging

Good morning Smug,

I'm sitting in Montreal airport waiting for my onward flight to Calgary and my iPhone has stopped charging. At first I thought it was the cable so I bought a new one but it doesn't appear to be working either. 

The phone charges at a snails pace on the QI chargers in the airport so I assume it's the plug. I've had a look and couldn't see anything that shouldn't be there and I've had a good blow which hasn't changed anything. 

It's an iPhone 12. Any suggestions on what to do would be greatly appreciated.

Try reversing the cable (just turn it over), I’ve seen this work on my old iPad.

Hi Philippe,

Get a cocktail stick and clean out all the fluff from the lightning port and try again. I think blowing is nowhere near enough for serious cases of fluff pollution. 😉

Stephen - absolutely agree. I took my non charging phone to the Genius Bar in Churchill Square Brighton. I had used a compressed air spray which didn’t make it charge at all. The young “genius” used something solid - and a very miniature poodle emerged. I think perhaps the air spray had compressed it further.

Thanks for the suggestions, I poked around the socket with a cocktail stick and it seems to have worked. I didn't see anything come out though.
