Asking for help with downloading onto a Kindle

Our friend has written a book (his letters home from an adventurous life abroad) and is keen that we should read it. He is going to give it to us in the form of a thumb drive.

Can anyone suggest how I can get the contents of that thumb drive onto my Kindle? I could probably get it onto my iPad, via my iMac, but I feel that would be too heavy to hold and read in bed (where I do all my reading).

I would be grateful for any help.

Surely if you can open it on your iPad, you can open it in the Kindle app on the iPad.  It will then automatically be in the Kindle’s library.

Hi 

You may need to convert it to kindle format - depends what format it is in. You can email files to yourself. Your kindle has the address in its settings somewhere. You also need to whitelist the address you send it from - this only needs doing once (google ‘sending files to kindle’ and you should get instructions. 

If you have trouble getting it converted I’m happy to do it for you and send you s kindle-compatible version, offlist.
