I am unable to get Devolo dLAN 550 to connect to the internet. This is before I have even attempted to plug it into a socket in the summerhouse. At present adapter is in same room as router and when I click on Devolo in settings it tells me ‘no internet access’. I suspect it is something to do with settings on my router. I have tried turning router off and on again but this doesn’t help. Any ideas?

Have you plugged the ‘main’ devolo adapter into your router with an ethernet cable? If the second adapter won’t get a signal even in the same socket then there might be a hardware issue. There is a factory reset button usually though that’ll re-pair them.

Yes, connected by Ethernet lead to router.  I can’t locate a reset button.  I’ll ring their helpline on Monday.

One thing you could do is take a picture of the security key on the sticker on the wifi adapter. Download & install the cockpit software, see If it recognises the main non-wifi adapter. Click the + button to add an adapter, then click ’type in the security iD here’. Type in the security ID and see if the other adapter pops up.

Success. The two units were not communicating. Helpline (guy with German accent) said to press button on top left of main unit (instruction book said this was for encryption but in fact is essential to connect two units.) I’m writing this sitting in summerhouse and, glory be, I’m connected to internet!
