Good afternoon Smuggers.

My wife needs to use Teams for an online meeting.

As she only has a Mac laptop with a small screen, How can she connect to my iMac using a lead?

What is the process of reflecting one screen to the other.

We both have Tahoe.

Many thanks for any advice.

Derek

You can’t use an iMac as an external display for another Mac I’m afraid.

You could create your wife a user on the iMac, she can log in and log into teams, then use the mic/cam directly

Hi Derek,

Forward the Teams connection details from the laptop to your iMac then connect direct from the iMac, you can use Teams via Safari.

Hi  –  Thanks for the quick feedback

It occurs to me that I have my previous iMac that I don’t use any more.

Presumably I can reformat it and my wife can set it up as her second Mac and work in the normal way.

These are its specs:  iMac Retina 27” late 2014. OS11.7

Do you think there are any issues with this setup and Teams?

Many thanks
Derek

The latest version of Teams won’t run under macOS Big Sur, it requires Sonoma (macOS 13) at a minimum

Easiest way is just to create a new administrator user in System Preferences/Settings > Users & Groups, then log in as that user

If you create a new user, log in as that user, then delete the old one, that’ll keep the Mac usable but without any user documents.

You can also reboot holding alt+cmd+R to go into Internet Recovery (might ask you to join the wifi network) > Use Disk Utility to erase Macintosh HD > quit Disk Utility then select to Reinstall a Copy of macOS > install on Macintosh HD
