Advice, please!

What is the best device (and app) for reading a book in bed, before falling asleep? Something that can turn itself off after, say, an hour. I would be interested to read your comments.

Following on from this thread I read a great deal using an old version kindle fire which has served me well. I have a special birthday this year and want to upgrade could anyone advise the best kindle to upgrade to.
