I suspect it's formatted for use with Macs (eg AFTP) but not a Windows compatible (eg FAT).
Select it in the Finder and see what it says by Format (under Modified) and let us know. If it's not that, we can take it from there.
This is a drive that connects directly via wifi, correct? or is it attached to another mac?
