Apple bless them - or rather curse them - have upgraded the Reminders app. I use this app all the time for To Do, To Watch, To Remember etc etc. Now I cannot access any of these lists and they give me 4 options when I go to the app : Today, Scheduled, All, Flagged. I have to scroll through All to get to the list I want. Totally infuriating! Is there any way to go back to the old version?

There is no way to go back.

All your individual reminder lists should be there below those four summary squares. It does not remove any existing lists, but the All summary square additionally brings together all your lists in one place without having to go into each one.

Yuk.  What a pain.

Virginia, thank you for reminding me about “reminders”! I had forgotten all about it. And having just looked, I have found lots of things which I haven’t done ...

But I do still have “my lists” below the 4 that you have mentioned, today, scheduled, all and flagged.

Andrew.

What an extraordinary thing, Andrew.  After reading your email, I went back to the app and, blow me, there were all my lists underneath the four, as you said.  They weren’t there before.  Well...maybe problem solved.     Virginia

Very odd! But thanks for reminding me. I’ve just added a new list - Plants for Garden! Should be useful ...

Oh Virginia, I do sympathise. I am struggling with my new Big Sur – and longing to return to Catalina. It seems to me that they have moved things just for the sake of moving them and I now dread every session on my iMac. Right now I am looking for “Move to” and I can’t find it anywhere.

Yes!  Why do they do it?  It’s particularly infuriating for us old ones (I’m 86 in 3 weeks time).

Nearly 86! You’re amazing Virginia 👍

Where is the “move to” you’re looking for? I’m sure we can find what you need.

You are an inspiration Virginia! I’m not yet 70 and find myself wondering if getting a bit older is why I seem to find some things harder to do now! But if you can still sort things out at almost 86 - I’m not going to let my printer get the better of me!

Good luck with your various projects!

I’m amazed. You always “sound” around 39-40! I am 84, so fast catching up with you.

Ladies I am so with you on all this. A mere stripling by comparison I am approaching my 65th birthday on Wednesday - no pension for another year sadly but we won’t go there!

Someone nice who bought me a new iMac to mark the milestone is currently logging in to return it. I don’t think I’ve ever had so much trouble. Largely because the wrong size hard drive was specified in error. I’ve spent nearly all the return window trying to see if I couldn’t manage. But even convincing myself iCloud and Dropbox were surely to be my saviours I’ve finally admitted that I’m beat.

The new one has Catalina but I have no idea if this is because I started using Migration Assistant until it threw a fit. It seems completely crazy to me that with a brand new machine I’m terrified to upgrade it!!!

What is going on? I’ve run my own web design business for nearly 20 years and used to build databases and provide support at the BBC LOL!!

And as for trying to find my photos - well there’s another whole chapter. It’s tempting to leave my old machine to join the graveyard of old tech that I’ve never been able to get rid of because there’s surely something lurking that I have forgotten about which will one day prove vital.

That said COVID has destroyed nearly every last brain cell and I’ve not even had it!! It’s surely only a matter of time before I’m going to be asking my 90 year old mum for support. Bought her a cellular iPad just before the latest lockdown against my sister’s advice - she couldn’t cope with a mobile phone - 2 hours sitting with her and the rest some hilarious moments on the phone and she’s happily Skyping her Canadian sister weekly. Result!

Meanwhile….

Pat
