Hello there

Wondering if I can connect my iPad to holiday let TV with an adaptor like this?

Or if anybody has a tried and tested product to recommend please? Just keen to ensure that both sound and vision comes through the TV and not using iPad speakers etc.

Thanks

Is it an iPad Pro with USB-C, or iPad with lightning?

Should be fine with a USB-C to HDMI cable then, I’ve used one with my iPad Pro and it auto-detected the TV

Thanks. And audio will go through the speakers TV too? It's just I've had a bit of recent bother connecting MacBook Pro (2019) USB - C to HDMI via a dongle and it only sends video, not audio. I'm assuming that's the multi-way dongle causing the bother?

Usually if the connected HDMI device reports it has speakers then the Mac or iPad will automatically switch to using that for audio as well as video. Did you check the Audio Output in System Settings with the TV connected to your MacBook?

Good idea!

Thanks.

Meantime, could you kindly click the amazon link for the cable above? It's just it doesn't list the iPad Mini as compatible, but I wasn't sure if that's true?!?! I don't know of any spec reason why it won't?

I’m not sure specifically about the Mini but Amazon have an excellent returns policy if it doesn’t work.

Turns out that whilst in holiday villa I get this error but no WiFi’s or data to resolve. What on earth is going on here!. It only arises with Apple TV app as Netflix downloaded movies play fine, as do one or two of my Apple purchased movie downloads but not most.

Any help please?!

In case any interested.... there's a "it no longer 'just works' " gremlin in the machine.

Turns out that if you have your iPad plugged in to your TV and choose to download a purchased film, it detects the cable and opts (in secret) to download in a format suitable for mirroring.

If you're not plugged in at the time, it doesn't offer any option, merely downloads suitable for iPad.

Seems a bit daft to me, but at least I now know!

Come back, Sir Jony, all is forgiven... aside from the way the Magic Mouse and Apple Pencil one are plugged in to charge ;)
