Hi,

We are currently looking into the smooks 2.0.0-M1 for reading and writing edifact messages. In order to know how do this, we first checked the examples repository here that make use of the new libs. First problem we encountered was that we found no example of writing an edifact message from a java object. And then, we found no documentation for the new smooks version. Can you maybe point us to such a documentation for 2.0.0-M1 and an example of an edifact writer?
Also, do you have an estimate to when you will release the final version of smooks 2.0.0?

Thank you

Good morning Alexandru,

You found no examples because at the moment we don't generate Java bindings from the DFDL schemas. We'll try to squeeze the Java bindings in M2 since it was already requested. In the meantime, I pushed an example to my GitHub account showing how to (a) generate the Java bindings with XJC and (b) turn a Java binding object into EDIFACT. The v2.0 branch holds the latest docs though they haven't yet been published to the Smooks website (2.0.0-M1 docs are tagged). As for an estimate, we'll need to discuss it internally but I reckon that it's going to be by the end of this year when we release Smooks 2.
