 Dear SMBC’ers,

Our Cambria trip is coming up soon.

Sat. 4/25 Washburn Camp or Bluebird Inn Cambria

Sun. 4/26  Bluebird Inn Cambria

Just called and the Bluebird Inn still has nice inexpensive rooms available and here is the link.

Some of us are going to camp at the Hearst San Simeon Washburn campsite Saturday April 25th. We have sites 4 sites, Harry & Chris in W231, Marco in W233, Mike in W230, and Margie in W267.  Others are staying at Bluebird on Saturday and are welcome to join us in camp that evening.

MEET UPS:

I will be leaving the 280/Page Mill Park & Ride at 7:30am Sat. for breakfast at Flapjack’s in Tres Pinos, tank filling in Hollister beforehand.

For those East Bay folks, you can join up as we pass the Bailey Ave exit at about 8am, just after the 101/85 merge.

Flapjacks for breakfast around 8:30

Route to Camp is highway 25 / Bitterwater / King City / Jolon Rd Mission Rd / Nacimiento-Fergusson Rd / SR1 south to the campground in San Simeon.

The Washburn Campground is part of the San Simeon Creek Campground off Hwy 1, about 5 miles north of Cambria. Again, we have 4 sites booked, so there should be plenty of room. If anyone is coming via 4 wheels, I have fire wood, call me.  Dinner/Breakfast is in Camp, and a ride Sunday morning can be through Cambria to Santa Rosa Creek Rd, (perhaps Cypress Mountain Rd, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AU4OXAS2ft4 ) Old Creek road into Cayucos and up Hwy 1 to Cambria for Hotel Happy Hour.

Monday is breakfast in town and a ride home down the coast, or for you retirees, the adventure can continue : )

Looking forward to it. -Harry

I realized I'm not going to be able to make it to camp in Cambria. I have friends that are getting married on the Saturday in San Francisco.

I probably won't make it to Sunday breakfast either, assuming they have a good reception! ;)

If anyone needs a campsite, please let me know and I can send over the details.

Cheers, hope everyone has fun!

I can't make it on Saturday.  I'll be headed to Cambria on Sunday and plan to be in Tres Pinos for breakfast on 4/26 around 8:30AM.  Hopefully I'll connect with a few other SMBCers riding down on Sunday.

Reminder for those staying at the Bluebird:

Check in time is 4 PM. Don’t plan on rooms being available if you get there earlier.

Excellent, Russ.

I can’t make it to Cotati this weekend. Will you be at the Los Gatos Cafe on 4/19?

There is a possibility of rain on Saturday and early Sunday AM
How much possibility is uncertain.
NOAA (which tends to err on the side of rain) says 40% on Saturday and 30% Saturday night and Sunday
Weather Underground (which tends to err on the side of dry) says no rain, but the chart says a 25% chance Saturday afternoon
Since I am riding down tomorrow; this means (for me) that I might be camping in the rain - or not

I was hoping to wear my comfortable leather jacket, unfortunately the possibility of rain means I wear the far less comfortable Gortex textile jacket that is getting tight.
