iCom910 satellite mode issue

Hello everyone, I'm using Skyroof 1.26 to control my ICOM 910 radio. However, when frequency control is enabled, the software forcibly cancels the radio's satellite mode. When I try to re-enable satellite mode, the Doppler shift causes frequency control to re-enable, which then forces the radio out of satellite mode.

Hi BI7AWD,

SkyRoof switches between the radio modes depending on your configuration and on the selected transmitter. For example, if you enable RX CAT and disable TX CAT, SkyRoof will not switch your transceiver to the Sat mode, it will use it in the simplex mode. Similarly, if the satellite transmitter you selected does not have an uplink, there is no reason to switch to the Sat mode, simplex mode is used. Please describe in more detail what your setup is, and what you are trying to do. A screenshot will certainly help.

when PTT is engaged then only the "main" band (that is supposed to be RX) is txing while the other band that is supposed to be txing is never switched to "main" and can tx the correct frequency.

in sat mode the tx band is txing as is correct but the frequency for tx band is never controlled, only the "main" rx band is cat controlled.

common thing is that skyroof only adjusts 1 single frequency, never both.

1 thing to note is that Ham Radio Deluxe can control both frequencies full duplex but it makes the "sub" indicator on the panel blink constantly since it involves SAT mode making TX vfo "sub".

The log says that the radio rejects the Split Off command in the Sat mode. Please try this file, without that command:

Tried SAT mode and now it works with new rig file. Threw no errors while i engaged TX via VOX either. Thx! Skyroof is really great!

After some stress testing i discovered this: You cant change to FM mode and the rig rejects the command. I read the json file and FM is set to "04" but the manual for my radio says 05 (as well as hrd) so i changed all FM 04's to 05 and it works again.

As well as getting rig errors when switching to SAT mode and the up and down bands are opposite of what they should be, easy to fix by pressing the M/S button on the radio and everything works after that.

Looking closer it looks like there is a formatting table error in the pdf of the manual i had so this makes it weird that 05 made FM work for some reason.

Hi Everyone,

I have made some changes to the Icom 910 JSON profile and it fixes the FM issue described above, and also I wasn't able to switch between V/u and U/v satellites or between Simplex and Transponder (Satellite Mode)
Give this JSON a try.

Short summary of changes:

• Changed FM mode value from 04 to 05.
• Added duplex alt_messages fallback for write_rx_frequency and write_tx_frequency, so the radio can swap Main/Sub and retry if V/u or U/v are on the wrong side.
• Added simplex alt_messages fallback for write_rx_frequency, so beacon-only satellites can tune correctly if the radio is sitting on the wrong VHF/UHF side.

Here is the log, the radio now correctly switches band when going from v/u to u/v etc

combined with Alex removing split off command or something it makes the operation of sats work perfectly and its easy to switch between sats.
