ARTE chicks on Ore peninsula

Jen Larsen got these good shots today of an Arctic Tern adult feeding a fish to a chick getting near to fledging, and a close-up of the chick.  They were at the edge of Temsco parking, there are some orange pylons marking an area to protect them.

There is at least one other chick in the area.  They are very good a hiding when not being fed, so you may need to be patient to see them.  But look soon, they are growing fast and will be starting to fly soon.

The parents sure don't like us being there. There were 3 eggs but happy to see 2 hatched. Tuff spot there for sure! I did see 2 babies myself. AWESOME!!!!

FYI - earlier in the season I came upon 3 Artic Terns eggs. As you know, there have been barriers put up to keep them safe.

Well, Jen Larsen recently was able to capture 2 - which is so exciting. I thought that egg 3 was not viable but, today, I saw 3 young terns. They were on the ground but soon, they will be airborne!
